In 2010 we bought a little bit of land in Flint Ridge Resort in Northeastern Oklahoma. Nestled among the pines and dogwoods, our property is an acre and a half of mostly woods.
The summer after our purchase, we traveled to Yellowstone Log Homes in Rigby, Idaho and spent three days touring log homes constructed from Yellowstone's logs. We purchased a set of stock plans that week and had their draftsman begin making some changes to fit our needs.
Now, four years later we have our plans finished, we have a list of log costs, along with budgeted amounts for basement, electrical, framing, mechanicals, roofing, and additional interior costs.
Our bank is half way through processing our loan and we've met with the electric company to begin their process of setting two additional poles to run service to our land. We are clearing the right of way ourselves to save some money.
My brother Dan and I will act as Buider/Contractor for the build. He runs a heating and air business and I am a self employed trim carpenter.
We will turn our plans and supporting documents in on Friday to apply for our permits. Once those are approved we will begin clearing some trees and digging the basement.
