We have found that a lot of waiting goes into a project like this:  information to the bank then wait, more information to the bank and wait some more. Cut timber for the right of way, have the electric company come look then cut some more. Get drawings from log company, plumber, electrician and turn them in for permits and wait some more.  We have been waiting so much lately we think this guy just passed us!

This past Saturday Becky, Dan and I met at the land to haul off limbs from our clearing.  Dan brought his tractor which really helped as we loaded the limbs onto a trailer borrowed from a friend.

We hauled seven loads to the "stump dump" a few miles away.

We just learned that all of our permits have been approved so I will pick them up this next Friday.
Once we hear back from the bank it will be a go for the basement. Hopefully that will be the next post.

In 2010 we bought a little bit of land in Flint Ridge Resort in Northeastern Oklahoma. Nestled among the pines and dogwoods, our property is an acre and a half of mostly woods.

The summer after our purchase, we traveled to Yellowstone Log Homes in Rigby, Idaho and spent three days touring log homes constructed from Yellowstone's logs.  We purchased a set of stock plans that week and had their draftsman begin making some changes to fit our needs.

Now, four years later we have our plans finished, we have a list of log costs, along with budgeted amounts for basement, electrical, framing, mechanicals, roofing, and additional interior costs.
Our bank is half way through processing our loan and we've met with the electric company to begin their process of setting two additional poles to run service to our land.  We are clearing the right of way ourselves to save some money.

My brother Dan and I will act as Buider/Contractor for the build. He runs a heating and air business and I am a self employed trim carpenter.

We will turn our plans and supporting documents in on Friday to apply for our permits. Once those are approved we will begin clearing some trees and digging the basement.
